The prolonged land acquisition process for the runaway expansion at the Trichy international airport to the Trichy district collector m pradeep kumar and AAI authorities for crucial discussion.
The project and ensure its completion by the end of September, had previously requested approximately 510.30 acres of land for the expansion, including 164 acres of defense land, to extend the runway from 8,000 feet to 12,500 feet. This enhancement would enable the airport to accommodate wide-body aircraft. Unfortunately, the proposal has been pending for almost 13 years due to delays in acquiring the necessary land from both the state and Union government.
57.5 acres of land has been resolved, and efforts to remove the encroachment from the designated area are also underway.
