Trichy airport new terminal building

The Trichy airport upgrade projects, which include erecting a new passenger terminal building, would be finished by June, according to a statement made on Thursday by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). By June 2023, Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) Airport’s integrated passenger terminal project, funded by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), will cost Rs 951 crore (US$117 million).

More than 85% of the building work has already been finished, said the airport authorities. 48 check-in counters and ten boarding bridges will be present in the 75,000m2 terminal. As a result, AAI anticipates that the energy-efficient structure would handle 2,900 passengers during peak hours. The architecture of the building should include references to the regional culture and traditional design.

Its interiors are designed to naturally direct passengers while displaying the colors and culture of the city in a modern way through materials and textures. Similar to how the structure’s roof was created, it has a dynamic shape. AAI also intends to update Trichy Airport’s airside facilities and build a new apron, accompanying taxiways, and air traffic control tower as part of the development.

The airport will also have a new isolation bay, a four-lane elevated access road, and a multiple apron ramp system for five wide-body or ten narrow-body aircraft. This goal is to accommodate the increasing passenger volume and ease congestion at the airport during busy times. The completed project will also include terminal radar, radar simulation, automation facilities, VHF communications, AAI offices, and meteorological offices.
